Do you want to be involved in raising public environmental awareness and promoting community action in Jordan?
The Jordan Environment Society (JES) is a non-profit non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting the environment in Jordan. It is the largest NGO in Jordan in its field. Following the belief that the environment is both the endowment and responsibility of all people, JES encourages interaction of various entities in environmental solutions. Through its 15 branches around the country, JES raises public awareness and promotes community action at the local level. By accessing professionals in both the private and public sector, JES enables the adoption of policies and the application of international environmental standards. We also aim to create a sound equilibrium between economic growth and the environment by promoting practices of sustainable development. Some of our projects include: awareness in water and environment, eco-media, integrated pest control, biogas, recycling, solid waste management, environmental theatre and an eco-student network. To help us with on-going and future projects, we are now looking for a:
Project Activity Intern
JES is looking for an intern that shows initiative, is creative, and is capable of working both independently and in a team. The tasks mainly required from the intern is following up calls for proposals, including drafting new ones for possible initiatives and improving the currently processed projects.
Also the intern can be working with other JES staff on the current project of converting our building into a LEED certified green building. Since we are establishing an eco-café for the local people, one of your main activities will be to continue with these projects and making it a success. Other tasks maybe required as per the need of JES.
Your activities:
As well as several established programs, we are currently working on transforming our building into a LEED certified green building and are establishing an eco-café for the local people. One of your main activities will be to continue with this project and making it a success. Other activities include, but are not limited to:
Qualifications:
- Affinity with working on youth projects
- Fund raising skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong networking skills
- Social and able to work with the local community
- Experience with sustainable building or food production is a pre
- Fluency in English is a must, Arabic language skills are an advantage
