Mission
‘To have a positive impact on local change by stimulating and facilitating the process of knowledge creation and sharing amongst students, academic institutions and civil society organisations working at the grass-root level. For this we actively mediate internships and thesis assignments within demand driven research projects, train students and facilitate debate and new initiatives amongst Wageningen students.’
To reach this we will actively mediate internships and thesis assignments and facilitate research projects amongst students teams and civil society organisations. OtherWise will act as a liaison for the students and participating organisations. We will facilitate relations of cooperation between NGOs and students in which both are willing to learn and invest, and in which both will profit. Locally international student teams and civil society organisations will work together in finding solutions for pressing issues. We will involve university staff and professionals to participate in these projects.
Additionally we will provide students in Wageningen with training in interactive research practices, knowledge sharing and intercultural communication. We will challenge and stimulate them to make their academic knowledge useful in practice. In Wageningen we will stimulate knowledge sharing, debate and personal reflection amongst students on their experiences on their field work, results and knowledge sharing. Students will be actively involved in the organisation of the programme.
With this comprehensive Research Mediation Program OtherWise will contribute to learning and cooperation amongst all actors during the projects. For the students this will result in experiences skills which they can draw upon in their future professional career.

We work in the field of international cooperation, social justice and sustainable development drawing upong diverse scientific areas.
